NDAA 2020 Funding Goes Into Conference
July 2, 2019
The House Armed Services Committee, chaired by Rep. Adam Smith (D-WA-9) passed the National Defense Authorization Act for next fiscal year, specifically exempting language that would have given banks rent-free access to land and facilities on military bases that credit unions have due to their not-for-profit cooperative structure.
After our success in the House, the Senate passed language that was improved from original language suggested by the banks. However, we will remain engaged through the conference work on this bill to ensure that credit unions can still successfully serve our military families on bases.
