Advocacy Training in Seatac, WA

The Advocacy team was pleased to present another successful Advocacy training at Inspirus Credit Union in Seatac, WA. The passion and energy in the room was evident as employees from area credit unions learned more about how to advocate for credit unions with their elected representatives. Among many topics covered were how to tell the CU story to a legislator and personalize the message according to the issues the representative is most concerned with.

Samantha Beeler, VP Advocacy shared numerous insights from her experiences about how  to approach meetings with elected officials and their staff. After a number of role play opportunities, attendees mentioned a marked growth in confidence and committed to be advocates among their teams and back home.

Over lunch, we had the pleasure of hearing from Scott Adkins, CEO of Inspirus CU as he encouraged participants to stay engaged and understand the importance of credit union advocacy. He responded to attendee questions about best practices and next steps. By the end of the training, numerous participants shared their enthusiasm about programs already in effect in their credit unions as well as a commitment from others to get something started in their respective credit union.
