Idaho Legislators and Business Leaders Converge at 2019 IACI Conference

Idaho business leaders and members of the Idaho Legislature are meeting this week at the 2019 Idaho Association of Commerce and Industry (IACI) Conference in Coeur d’Alene.  Congressman Russ Fulcher (R – ID) kicked off the conference on Sunday afternoon, outlining the pressing issues facing the U.S. Congress, while also providing his perspective as a freshman member of the minority party in the House.  The conference continues on Monday and Tuesday, focusing on policy issues that will face the Idaho Legislature in the coming months. A few of the topics floating to the surface are early childhood development, K-12 and CTE education as well as how those issues will specifically impact the future for career development.  Establishing an apprentice program, within Idaho high schools to directly benefit Idaho-based companies, was a specific concept program outlined in the discussions.  The Career Wise organization, out of Colorado, presented impressive results after implementing an apprentice program in 2017 and growing it significantly over the last two years.
