The NWCUA Awards Season is Now Open

Celebrate an outstanding credit union or team member by nominating them today.

Tiffany Pillars, AVP of Finance at Providence Federal Credit Union, reacts as her name is called during the MAXX 2018 Awards Gala. Pillars was awarded Young Credit Union Leader of the Year at the event.

Each year, credit unions and their team members throughout the Northwest make positive changes in the lives of others – whether it be for their members, in their community, or internally, helping to further their credit union’s success.

These achievements are important to applaud and share within the credit union family. To do that, your Association is encouraging you to nominate an outstanding peer or credit union for this year’s 2019 MAXX Awards celebration. The call for entries is now open, and together, we will celebrate our Northwest credit unions and their outstanding team members in Spokane on Oct. 17. Nominations will be accepted through June 25.

“The Awards Program is a fantastic night. There’s laughter, tears, and a sense of accomplishment that leaves everyone feeling inspired and reinvigorated,” said Christine Ruzzi, AVP Enterprise Engagement Resources. “Together, we celebrate our credit unions’ milestones through stories of achievement. It’s truly a night not to be missed.”

Your Association encourages you to nominate for the NWCUA Summit Awards, which include:

  • Distinguished Director
  • Impact Award
  • Cooperation in Action
  • Members on Main Street
  • Young Credit Union Leader of the Year
  • Lifetime Achievement

In addition to the Summit Awards, members are encouraged to enter the prestigious Credit Union National Association Awards. CUNA Awards recognize credit unions’ outstanding work in the areas of youth and adult financial education and community impact. Top regional winners are automatically considered for national CUNA awards, presented at the annual CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference in Washington, D.C.

CUNA Award categories include:

  • Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service
  • Louise Herring Philosophy in Action
  • Desjardins Youth Financial Education
  • Desjardins Adult Financial Education

This year, East Idaho Credit Union and Rogue Credit Union won national CUNA awards for community impact and financial education after being recognized at MAXX 2018.

In addition, the LEAP awards recognize the positive impacts Micro-Communities are making across the Northwest. Their efforts reverberate far and wide, which is why these awards have four categories:

  • Leadership
  • Education
  • Advocacy
  • Philosophy in Action

Nominations will be accepted for all four categories, as well as for a fifth category, which goes to a Micro-Community that exemplifies all four of the LEAP pillars. Any Northwest credit union Micro-Community can be nominated for any of the five awards. Those groups include credit union chapters, young professional networking groups, Credit Union Development Educators, and sister societies of the Northwest Chapter of the Global Women’s Leadership Network.

“The NWCUA Awards Committee looks forward to reading our members’ nominations. They are always so inspiring and remind us of why we in the credit union industry do what we do – improving lives and building up communities,” Ruzzi said.
