Nominate Your Outstanding Credit Union Volunteer for a Chance to Win a Cruise


Credit unions share the “People Helping People” philosophy – it’s in their DNA.

One of the biggest contributors to that philosophy are the thousands of credit union employees who volunteer throughout their communities in so many ways – from raising funds for a good cause, to providing financial education, or gathering supplies for a community center.

Last fall, the Northwest Credit Union Association launched the Community Impact Reporting Tool (CIRT), an online platform that helps credit unions track key data in a number of areas, including volunteerism. Cabot Creamery, a dairy cooperative owned by 800 farms throughout New England, partnered with the Association to build the platform, which will help tell the collective story of Northwest credit unions’ impacts across the region.

To encourage all credit unions to participate in CIRT, your Association is passing along the chance for one outstanding credit union volunteer to win a cruise, generously donated by Cabot. The eight-day cruise sets sail on Sept. 29 from Boston and will take passengers along the coasts of New England and Canada.

“This is our way of celebrating you – the outstanding credit union employee who gives back every day and makes a difference in people’s lives,” said Sharee Adkins, Executive Director of the Northwest Credit Union Foundation. “We are so grateful to Cabot for all they have done to help us create CIRT, and we thank them for providing us with this opportunity to celebrate one amazing credit union employee who is making a big difference in the community through volunteer work.”

In order to qualify for the cruise, credit unions that nominate their credit union staff member must have an active login on the CIRT website by April 30. (Sign up here to get your credit union’s CIRT login.)

Each year, Cabot Creamery celebrates extraordinary volunteers by taking 60 of them on a cruise. The dairy cooperative covers all costs, including airfare and lodging. The cruise is for outstanding volunteers only – so a credit union winner will be surrounded by like-minded, giving people. It’s a great opportunity to recharge and meet others who share the same volunteer spirit.

To nominate your deserving credit union volunteer, visit the online nomination form and tell us why you think he or she deserves to win. The nomination window opens on Tuesday, April 23 and all nominations are due by May 8.

The winner will be randomly selected from all eligible nominations and contacted by May 22. In the event that a winner does not accept the prize or is unable to participate in the 2019 Cabot Celebrity Cruise, we will randomly select another winner from all eligible nominations until the prize is claimed. Look for an upcoming story in Anthem about our winner and check our Facebook and Twitter accounts for updates. Contest rules may also be found on the nomination form.

“Credit unions are doing amazing things in their communities,” Adkins said. “CIRT will play a major role in telling those stories. It is our goal to include every NWCUA credit union member in CIRT so we may have a truly comprehensive representation of their community impact.”

As a condition of awarding the prize, NWCUA will require the winner to provide information necessary for completion of a 1099-MISC for the value of the prize for IRS reporting purposes.
