Washington Governor Inslee Announces Presidential Run, CU Priorities Continue in Olympia
March 1, 2019
As expected, Washington Governor Jay Inslee has announced he is running for President in 2020. The Governor made the announcement in the digital space, via a video.
While the announcement will shine a national political spotlight on the Evergreen State, your Association expects the campaign will have no disruptive impacts on credit union priorities advancing in Olympia.
We have provided the Governor’s office with feedback on the recruitment for a new Director of the Department of Financial Institutions, pending the April 1 retirement of Gloria Papiez. Our engagement will continue, and as always, we welcome the input of member credit unions.
NWCUA-backed legislation making common sense updates to the Credit Union Act, is proceeding through the legislative process with bipartisan support. Follow this link to learn more about SB 5479 and HB 1247.
