Washington Credit Union Day at the Capitol Cancelled Due to Unsafe Weather
February 11, 2019
With a series of winter storms producing unsafe weather conditions across Washington, the Northwest Credit Union Association is cancelling the 2019 Credit Union Day at the Capitol event in Olympia, previously scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 13.
“Our advocates’ safety is our primary concern,” said Joe Adamack, NWCUA Washington Vice President of Legislative Affairs. “While we can’t control the weather, we will continue to work together and encourage legislators to support common sense updates to the Washington Credit Union Act. We hope our advocates will join us for an informational webinar Wednesday, where we will help prepare them and provide the tools necessary to contact their elected officials.”
NWCUA-backed legislation, drafted in collaboration with member credit unions, has been approved at the committee level in both the Senate and House with widespread support and is now in position for the full chambers to weigh in soon. Follow this link to learn more about SB 5479/HB 1247.
The Washington Credit Union Legislative Engagement webinar is scheduled for Feb. 13 at 11 a.m. PST. Registration is open online: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/8851467023581024001
“I want to thank the 220 passionate advocates who were prepared to come to Olympia to amplify credit unions’ voices on behalf of 4.3 million Washington credit union members,” Adamack said.
