Credit Unions Share Shutdown Help Highlights with Gov. Inslee

Your Association’s President and CEO Troy Stang represented Washington credit unions at a roundtable called by Gov. Jay Inslee, to discuss assistance for Washingtonians impacted by the partial federal government shutdown.

Stang told the Governor that Evergreen State Credit Unions have been positioned to help impacted workers since the shutdown began Dec. 22. As not-for-profit cooperatives, credit unions already have the structure in place to help consumers during economic disruptions. Services being offered include zero or low-interest loans, options to defer loan payments, financial counseling, and more.

Gov. Inslee announced that federal workers who are on the job but not being paid, are now eligible for unemployment benefits.
