Credit Union Update Bill Introduced in Washington State House

Legislation that will update the Washington state credit union act has been introduction in the Washington State House of Representatives. Representatives Kristine Reeves (D- 30) and Larry Hoff (R-18) signed on as the lead sponsors of the bill and members of the NWCUA Government Affairs team were there to officially drop it into the bill hopper. This update bill (HB 1247) which was drafted in collaboration with your Association, Washington credit unions, and the Department of Financial Institutions (DFI), will allow credit unions to better serve their members, create consumer access, and give the state regulatory agencies the authority necessary to strengthen the regulatory system.

The next step in the process will be for the bill to be considered by the House Consumer Protection & Business Committee, which is chaired by Rep. Steve Kirby (D-29).  If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to the new Vice President of Legislative Affairs, Joe Adamack,
