Around the Northwest: OnPoint Named a Most Admired Company
January 7, 2019
After surveying CEOs across Oregon, the Portland Business Journal recently published a list of Most Admired Companies, giving OnPoint Community Credit Union a high ranking—number five—on the list in the financial services category.
Companies were evaluated on innovation, branding, marketing, management quality, community involvement and the caliber of products and services. OnPoint is the only credit union recognized among the top 10 in the financial services category, which includes banks and wealth management firms throughout Oregon. In 2018, OnPoint added more than 20,000 members, increasing the total membership to more than 360,000 in Oregon and southwest Washington.
OnPoint President and CEO Rob Stuart noted that the credit union is honored to be among the state’s top companies.
“Thank you to the Portland business community for recognizing OnPoint’s commitment to exceptional service and giving back to our community. It is truly an honor to be in the company of so many inspiring organizations,” Stuart said.

First Community Credit Union Breaks Ground on a New Corporate Center
First Community Credit Union recently broke ground on a new corporate center, as well as a new branch for members late last year in Coquille, Oregon, continuing its long relationship with the city as the home of the credit union’s headquarters since its beginning in 1957.
At the groundbreaking ceremony in November, First Community President and CEO David Elmer described First Community’s long-standing connection to the region.
“The city of Coquille is part of our history and legacy. Additionally, many members of our senior management team, along with other skilled and talented team members’ work at this office, helps support our branch network throughout Oregon. Expanding here is a tribute to Coquille, our membership and our team,” said Elmer.
The new center will include enhanced building security, technology and additional space for current needs, as well as for the credit union’s long-term growth. Approximately 17,000 square feet will be added to the existing building, which will be completed in late 2019, with the final completion of the First Community headquarters expected in December 2020.
