Credit Unions for Kids Auction Organizers Gearing up for Success at MAXX 2018

Each year, credit union professionals gather for three days at the MAXX Convention, where they experience professional development, networking, and learn about the latest in technology, trends, and services.
One of those highly anticipated convention events is the Northwest Credit Union Association’s (NWCUA) Annual Credit Unions for Kids Auction. It brings everyone together for one very important cause – supporting the Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) hospitals. There’s camaraderie, laughs, emotion, and a whole lot of bidding.
This year will be no exception. With the theme, “New York, New York,” the auction aims to continue the success of 2017’s fundraising efforts, which resulted in $334,421 going to eight CMN hospitals.
In order to achieve that goal, organizers need to once again ensure that they’re auctioning off hot-ticket items that will get people bidding.
Last year, there were 73 silent auction items and 11 live auction items. Some of the most popular silent auction items were baskets that included sports-themed items, wine and wine-related items, holiday or seasonal themes, kitchen items, and baskets filled with fun things for kids. Live auction items such as destination travel, golf getaways and dinner parties also went quickly.
“We truly value the support that our Northwest credit unions provide with their annual auction donations,” said Holly Miller, Project Manager, NWCUA. “We value the generosity of our credit unions and love watching the creativity they show with their donations.”
All the proceeds from the auction, as well as sponsorship proceeds, go to eight Children’s Miracle Network hospitals in our region. There are still sponsorship spots also available, including “Your Name in Lights,” which features the sponsoring credit union’s name on a marquee sign.
The auction committee is seeking items for the night’s event, to be held Oct. 17 during MAXX in Tacoma, Wash. Those who wish to donate a live auction item have until Sept. 7. Silent auction items are still needed and being accepted, as well.
Since its founding in the Northwest in 1986, and its adoption as credit unions’ national “charity of choice” in 1996, Credit Unions for Kids has raised over $170 million for 170 CMN hospitals across the nation. Money raised in any region stays with the local hospital, and money raised at the New York, New York Gala Auction can be earmarked to benefit the CMN hospital of the donors’ choice.
