People on the Move: Good News about Northwest CU Professionals

Kasey Rockwell and CEO Barbara Mathey discuss the credit union’s strategic plans.

Kasey Rockwell Settles into New Senior Leadership Role at IBEW & United Workers FCU

Kasey Rockwell says her credit union career began Aug. 1, 1988 but in fact she started toning her muscles as a kid. Her father, Gary VandeVenter, was CEO of a Portland credit union, and she often helped at Credit Unions for Kids events. The bug bit and after graduation, she was off and running. She worked in the credit union and league systems gaining experience in governmental affairs, marketing, operations, and business development.

Now she’s landed in a senior leadership role at the $81 million asset-sized IBEW and United Workers FCU in Portland. Rockwell is Executive Vice President.

She shares passion for the CU Movement and community involvement with her boss, CEO Barbara Mathey. The opportunity to learn other aspects of credit union operations by working alongside Mathey is what Rockwell is most excited about.

Mathey firmly believes her senior leadership team should understand all of the jobs in the credit union, something that doesn’t faze Rockwell.

“If you know all the areas and your membership you’ll be able to serve them better, and to make decisions in their best interests.,” Rockwell said.

She admires the credit union’s members, who are members of labor unions.

“They’re all great people,” Rockwell noted. “Their industries are so important and so ingrained across America.”

Idaho Central’s Kent Oram Wins CEO Honors

The Idaho Business Review (IBR) has selected Idaho Central Credit Union President/CEO Kent Oram as a “2018 CEO of Influence.”

Oram was the only executive from a financial institution to receive the prestigious award. Other honorees represent the food processing, conservation, historic preservation, and real estate industries.

Hundreds turned out to celebrate Oram and other honorees at a May 10 event at the Boise Centre. This was the eight year the IBR presented the awards program.
