May 29, 2018
5/29/18President Trump signed the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act into law May 24.
In a bill signing ceremony at the White House last week, President Trump signed the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief and Consumer Protection Act. For credit unions, the moment will go down in history, as it is their most significant legislative improvement at the federal level since Field of Membership expanded twenty years ago. For Northwest credit union advocates, the bill signing was especially important, because Sen. Mike Crapo, (R-ID) was the bill’s architect.
“Mike, congratulations,” President Trump said. “You did a great job…and you’ve done it in a very bipartisan way.”
There are eight sections in S. 2155 beneficial to credit unions and their members.
Your Association prepared a detailed analysis of each section, with specific information about the impact S. 2155 will have on credit unions in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. The analysis is suitable for sharing with your team and Board of Directors. Download the NWCUA analysis here.
