NWCUA Awards Season Opens

The sparkle created by dozens of crystal trophies at the annual MAXX Awards Gala earned the event billing as the “Night of Lights” in the Northwest CU Movement.

The Northwest’s highest performing credit unions and professionals are being called on the carpet—the Red Carpet, that is.

Your Association has opened the call to entry for awards to be presented at the annual gala celebration during MAXX Convention October 18.

Information and entry forms can be found online. The call to entry is open to all Northwest Credit Union Association (NWCUA) and Idaho Credit Union League (ICUL) member credit unions. Entries may be submitted between May 1, 2018 through June 25, 2018.

“The Awards Program is an annual celebration where the Northwest credit union family comes together to recognize and celebrate our collective milestones in the Credit Union Movement,” said Christine Ruzzi, Director, Member Resources, and liaison to the member-driven 2018 Awards Committee.

Two new awards have been added this year. The newly minted “Members on Main Street” award will recognize one credit union for an initiative that clearly acknowledges and serves the specific character of its members.

Northwest Micro-Communities will be recognized for the collaborative roles they play advancing the Credit Union Movement. New to this category is the “Cooperation in Action” award which will recognize two or more credit unions or professionals working together in the spirit of cooperation and the impressive results arising from collaboration.

Credit unions that participated in the #CUobsessed mission to raise awareness, will also have opportunities to be recognized from the Main Stage, Ruzzi noted.

Honors to be celebrated in the NWCUA Summit Awards category include:

  • Young Credit Union Leader of the Year
  • Members on Main Street
  • Distinguished Director
  • Innovation & Impact
  • Lifetime Achievement

Credit Union advocates work tirelessly to recommend and help pass the policy advancement agendas at the state and federal levels. As always, an “Advocate of the Year” will be selected from Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. Top of the Hill trophies will be awarded to credit unions that excel in their political advocacy efforts.

In addition to the Summit Awards category, NWCUA also presents the prestigious CUNA Awards at the MAXX gala event. These honors recognize credit unions’ outstanding work in the areas of youth and adult financial education and community outreach. Top regional winners are automatically considered for national CUNA awards, which will be presented during the annual CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference in Washington, D.C. in 2019.

CUNA Award categories include:

  • Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service
  • Louise Herring Philosophy in Action
  • Desjardins Youth Financial Education
  • Desjardins Adult Financial Education
