Advocacy Honor Role: Mid Oregon Honored for Effective Use of CUNA MAP
Mid Oregon wins CUNA’s top national honor for the most active use of its member engagement advocacy tool.
Bend-based Mid Oregon Credit Union earned national kudos from the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) for its effective use of the Member Activation Program (MAP).
CUNA selects one credit union per year as the “Most Active Credit Union in the MAP Program.”
Since February 2017, Mid Oregon sent nearly 60,000 emails and numerous social media posts to members with information and calls to action in support of important credit union legislation.
Many of the messages focused on the “Common Sense Financial Reform” campaign, and asked members to contact their Congressional representatives in support of the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act- S.2155. With bipartisan support and steadfast credit union advocacy, the bill passed the in the Senate and is now working its way through the U.S. House of Representatives.
“It is because of credit unions like Mid Oregon that credit unions continue to be an advocacy force and are able to serve our members and communities by providing the best financial services,” said Richard Gose, CUNA’s Chief Political Officer.
“As the only financial institution headquartered in Central Oregon, we take our role as advocates for consumers and credit union members very seriously,” said Bill Anderson, President/CEO of Mid Oregon CU. “We are very proud of the way our team and members stepped forward in such large numbers to have their voices heard.”
