Innovating Lending through Data & Efficiency

As credit unions approach a new decade and begin to lend to the next generation of borrowers, it’s important to look ahead and assess what factors will shape and disrupt the lending landscape.

Many credit unions will have reached their centennial anniversaries during the prime borrowing years of Generation Z and, for them, questions about the lending landscape in the years ahead become even more urgent.

In an environment where competition is increasingly centered on new financial technology (and not just savings and loans), a new question emerges: Do credit unions have the right tools to adapt, grow, and thrive in this future lending space?

To succeed, credit unions must look ahead and determine what the lending solutions of tomorrow will be.

CU Direct Corporation, one of the largest leading financial technology companies in the nation, is leading the way. In partnership with Northwest Credit Union Association, CU Direct is hosting a series of free sessions, called Credit Union Lending Solutions Forums, exclusively for credit union professionals.

The Credit Union Lending Solutions Forums will be held in Boise on April 4th, Seattle on April 25th, and in Portland on April 26th. All forums will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with lunch for attendees who RVSP.

The forums will address two of the biggest disruptions to the lending landscape: data science and process efficiency. Data and efficiency continue to change the way credit unions engage with, and lend to, its members.

Here are some of the questions that will be covered during these sessions:

  • How are credit unions using member data to strengthen their member relationships?
  • What lending opportunities can credit unions gain from their current loan portfolios?
  • How much arelending processes costing credit unions, compared to their competitors?
  • Does thecurrent credit union lending experience reflect the same values as the    brand story they share with their new and existing members?

While these questions may pose some challenging internal discussions, they also offer potential insight into what can be achieved when a credit union successfully leverages its data and increases its internal efficiencies. As the following image illustrates, there are many benefits that can be gained from data and efficiencies for credit unions.

For those who attend the Credit Union Lending Solutions Forum sessions, the goal is to provide information on data science and efficiencies that can help the attendee’s credit union continue to be a leading source of lending for their members and respective communities in the years ahead.
