Your Northwest Credit Union Association and the DDJ Myers Advancing Leadership Institute have teamed up to offer the 2018 Emerging Leaders Program, a series of three three-day training sessions designed to help professionals develop the leadership skills necessary to address the biggest challenges credit unions face today.

During these training sessions, participants collaborate with industry colleagues and build strong professional relationships with peers from other credit unions. Participants also receive executive-level coaching and mentoring between training sessions. By the final week of the course, each participant presents a leadership project, applying their new skills to support their credit union and community.

Registration for the 2018 program is open, and space is limited! Training sessions will run on the following dates at Horizon Credit Union in Spokane, WA:

            Week 1: Wednesday, March 21 through Friday, March 23, 2018
            Week 2: Monday, June 25 through Wednesday, June 27, 2018
            Week 3: Wednesday, Sept. 19 through Friday, Sept. 21, 2018

In addition, participants will present their final projects during a breakout session at the 2018 MAXX Convention in Tacoma, Washington.

This year, NWCUA’s Strategic Link is proud to sponsor the Emerging Leaders Scholarship Contest, which will award one candidate tuition-free registration to the 2018 program. Click here for application instructions. The deadline to apply is no later than midnight on Jan. 25.

If you’d like to nominate one of your peers for the scholarship, please fill out our peer nomination form by Jan. 10. Once you’ve nominated your colleague to apply, he or she will be notified to complete an application by the Jan. 25 deadline.

From the scholarship applicants, three finalists will be selected to participate in a short phone interview with the NWCUA judges on Feb. 12 and 13. The winner will be announced on Feb. 19.

The scholarship winner’s responsibilities throughout the program will include:

  • Attending three training sessions in Spokane, WA. Tuition will be paid, but the winner will need to secure their own lodging and transportation.
  • Contributing five articles to NWCUA’s Anthem newsletter.
  • Tweeting at least twice per week of training.
  • Presenting their final project at the 2018 MAXX Convention in Tacoma, Washington.
  • Following up with NWCUA’s Community Manager, Carmen Vigil, and their assigned DDJ Myers Coach by Nov. 2, 2018, to share how the experience with the Emerging Leaders Program has affected their career and their credit union.
