Mt. Hood Chapter’s Annual “Turkey Shoot” Raises $2,000 for Clackamas Service Center
On Nov. 16 in Clackamas, OR, the Mt. Hood Chapter’s 2017 Bob Burns Memorial Turkey Shoot drew a crowd of nearly 200 credit union professionals, volunteers, and business partners for a turkey dinner and fundraiser for Clackamas Service Center.
The fundraiser incorporated raffles, a prize giveaway, and a “turkey shoot,” giving attendees the chance to win a frozen turkey for successfully popping balloons on a dartboard.
Clackamas Service Center (CSC) is a vibrant and inclusive “one-stop” community campus that offers homeless families and individuals food and other resources to improve their safety, health, and stability on their path toward self-sufficiency.
The Mt.Hood Chapter asked event attendees to bring donations for CSC, including non-perishable food, clothes, personal items, gloves, hats, socks, coats, and blankets. The donations filled several vehicles, and were delivered to CSC the following morning.
In addition to the donated items, the chapter event raised $2,000 for CSC.
“I am sure I can speak for the entire Mt. Hood Chapter Board when I say this is our favorite event of the year,” said Tiffany Pillars, President of the Mt. Hood Chapter and Director of Accounting at Providence Federal Credit Union. “Being able to bring so many likeminded professionals together in one room for such a great cause is amazing. Collectively, we were able to make a difference in the lives of those within our community who might be struggling. This year was incredibly successful, and we are already looking forward to next year!”
NW Priority Credit Union Raises Nearly $11,000 for Muscular Dystrophy Association
During the Muscular Dystrophy Associaton’s “Fill the Stachel” campaign, NW Priority Credit Union raised nearly $11,000 to support the cause, exceeding its 2017 goal to raise $9,000. This total was also double the amount the credit union raised for MDA last year.
The credit union has participated in the annual “Fill the Satchel” fundraising campaign for four years, partnering with the National Association of Letter Carriers Association Branch 82 in its efforts.
This year, the credit union’s branches held friendly competitions to help reach the fundraising goal, while also sharing advice and encouragement with one another as they inspired members to also contribute to the cause.
