CFPB Invites Lenders Offering Free Credit Scores to Add Their Names to a Public List
November 21, 2017
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is updating a list of companies that offer existing customers free access to a credit score. The Bureau invites lenders that offer this service to let them know if they would like to be included on the updated list.
Credit unions interested in being included on the updated company list need to respond to the public notice in the Federal Register. They will then share the list publicly, to raise awareness of how people can access and use their credit scores to help manage their financial lives and to highlight positive efforts by the industry to expand access to free credit scores.
The CFPB’s original list of companies offering this service to consumers was published in March 2017.
If your credit union was included on the March list and would like to be included on the updated list, you must submit a new entry and respond to the public notice. The comment period closes on Jan. 12, 2018.
