Help Victims of Hurricane Harvey
Join the Northwest Credit Union Foundation and the National Credit Union Foundation to support communities affected by the devastating storm.
Hurricane Harvey has devastated the Houston, Texas, area with record-setting flooding — and more rain is in the forecast. More than 30,000 people have been forced out of their homes, and at least eight people have lost their lives.
Northwest credit unions have historically been generous in supporting victims of natural disaster. Your Northwest Credit Union Foundation is teaming up with the National Credit Union Foundation to activate the online disaster relief system CUAID.COOP to raise money for credit union employees and volunteers affected by this devastating storm. Credit union employees, volunteers, and members, as well as credit unions and credit union organizations across the United States, can contribute directly through the site.
Your Foundation is contributing $5,000 to seed the Northwest credit union community’s contributions to CUAID.COOP. We’re asking credit unions and credit union members to join our efforts.
“The Credit Union Movement has come to our aid here in the Northwest in the past — following windstorms, wildfires, and other natural disasters we know can cause insurmountable financial shock for people in our communities,” said Denise Gabel, the Northwest Credit Union Association’s Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director of the Northwest Credit Union Foundation. “We appreciate anything your credit union and your members can do to support our extended credit union family in Texas.”
