CULAC Successes and Upcoming Events

Oregon State Credit Union Pledges $32,014 During 2017 CULAC Campaign

In a campaign that began in May and ran through July, Oregon State Credit Union surpassed its 2017 CULAC fundraising goal, pledging a total of $32,014 to the cause.

Oregon State Credit Union President and Chief Executive Officer Rick Hein explains the credit union’s dedication. “We were created by public policy to provide choice and opportunity to consumers. Our involvement in CULAC is our investment in the credit union industry continuing to exist to serve our mission,” he said. “The commitment and passion of our team toward that mission is reflected in our annual CULAC campaign success and a regular source of pride and unity for us.”

The credit union’s creative fundraising ideas incorporated an assortment of raffles and rewards, from jeans/capris Fridays to OSU FB Club tickets. But perhaps what resonated most with the team was the dual purpose the funds served in benefiting the community. For every dollar employees donated to benefit the credit union industry through CULAC, the credit union contributed a match donation to the Credit Unions for Kids drive benefiting Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland or Sacred Heart Medical Center in Eugene.

The credit union also incorporated a new donor prize this year. Employees who purchased a raffle ticket were entered into a drawing for a tour of Doernbecher in Portland, to see the difference their donations are making in the lives of families in the community.

In addition, donors were entered into a drawing to see credit unions’ advocacy work in action. The winner will join a small group of Oregon State Credit Union senior managers and volunteers for an all-expenses-paid trip to the CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference in February. In addition to exploring the nation’s capital, they will gain firsthand experience as a credit union advocate as they engage with federal legislators.
