Speakers Announced for Executives@CdA2017

This August’s executive conference, Executives@CdA2017, combines credit union leadership networking, educational sessions, and the beauty of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Between sessions, attendees will be invited to kayak on Fernan Lake, zipline above the Silver Valley, enjoy wine tasting in neighboring Spokane Valley, or play a round of golf at the family-friendly Coeur d’Alene Resort.

Thought-provoking issues addressed at this strategic, future-focused event will range from cybersecurity to purchasing bank assets and challenging the credit union value proposition.

To tackle some of these topics, the CUES OR/WA Council and your Association are thrilled to introduce speaker Glen Hiemstra, founder and owner of Futurist.com. We are also excited to welcome Roger Jones, CPA and Managing Partner at Hauser, Jones & Sas, to lead a panel of speakers about credit unions purchasing bank assets. Glen Hiemstra, Founder and Owner, Futurist.com

As the founder and owner of Futurist.com, Glen Hiemstra is dedicated to disseminating information about the future to assist individuals, organizations, and industries in effective strategic planning. An internationally respected expert on future trends, long-range planning, and creating the preferred future, Hiemstra has advised professional, business, and governmental organizations for two decades and has served as a technical advisor for futuristic television programs.

Hiemstra is the author of Millennial City: How a New Generation Can Save the Future,Turning the Future into Revenue: What Businesses and Individuals Need to Know to Shape Their Future.

He has worked with leading companies, government agencies, and organizations across a wide variety of domains, including Microsoft, The Home Depot, Boeing, Adobe, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, REI, and Hewlett Packard, among many others.

Hiemstra’s keynotes zero in on emerging trends in economics, demographics, energy, the environment, Internet and communications, science, technology, housing, and transportation. Hiemstra goes beyond simple trend analysis to discuss the opportunities we all have to shape the preferred future.

Roger Jones, CPA, Managing Partner, Hauser, Jones & Sas

Roger Jones has been auditing credit unions and credit union service organizations for more than 25 years. As a recognized credit union expert, he is a frequent presenter at firm sponsored events, at financial literacy training sessions, Credit Union Executives Society roundtable meetings, and the NWCUA annual convention. Jones served as an expert panelist on the Department of Financial Institutions’ roundtable discussion regarding the tax and internal control implications associated with board of director compensation programs.

At the start of his career, Jones worked at several national CPA firms. He went on to hold several executive-level finance positions at lending organizations in Oregon and Washington, both as CFO of a $1 billion bank holding company and as a CFO/founder of a de novo community bank. During this period in his career, Jones was responsible for three different credit union service organizations that provided mortgage lending, settlement services, and advice to their parent organizations.

Today, Jones serves as managing partner at Hauser, Jones & Sas, helping clients in a wide variety of industries as an auditor, consultant, CPA, and financial resource. Most of the firm’s clients are under 500 employees; Jones helps them power the American economy by improving profits, minimizing taxes, and finding efficiencies.
