Call to Action Support
April 10, 2017
Earlier this week, Senator Ron Wyden (OR-D) and Senator Lisa Murkowski (AK-R) introduced Senate Bill 836, the Credit Union Residential Parity Act. This bill would amend the Federal Credit Union Act to create parity for certain residential loans made by both banks and credit unions. Specifically reclassifying loans made for 1-4 unit non-owner occupied residential dwellings as a real estate loan. Enactment of this legislation would correct this disparity and free up capital for local business lending.
Today we are encouraging all advocates to take action by simply following this link to share pre-written messages with the other 5 Senators in our region asking for their support. You are welcome to customize the messages to your Senators, and add additional information.
Additionally, we are asking that Oregon folks especially take a moment to thank Senator Wyden for his leadership on this issue by taking action here.
