Columbia CU Announces Executive Team Promotions, Addition
Columbia Credit Union recently announced the promotions of three executive team members, as well as the hire of a new VP for Business Lending.
Lindsey Salvestrin has been named chief operating officer and Michael Florea has been promoted to chief data officer. Wendy Smith has been named chief risk officer, and Luke Shepard was welcomed as vice president of Business Lending
In Salvestrin’s role as chief operating officer she provides leadership for management of the branch teams, member service call center, retail support team, general services and facilities.
As chief data officer, Florea provides strategy and oversight in the areas of project management and process improvement, change management and testing functions, systems and business intelligence.
In her role as chief risk officer, Smith is accountable for the credit union’s risk management operations. She also provides supervision in the areas of audit, loss prevention and compliance.
Salvestrin previously served as Columbia Credit Union’s senior vice president and chief experience officer and was recently honored in the Vancouver Business Journal’s “Accomplished and Under 40 Class of 2016.”
Florea started his career at Columbia Credit Union in 1999. Prior to his promotion to chief data officer, he served as senior vice president and systems integrations officer. Florea has a bachelor’s degree in business information systems from Linfield College and more than 20 years’ experience working in the information technology industry.
Smith has more than 20 years’ experience with credit union operations. She began working at Columbia Credit Union in 2010 as lead internal auditor. Prior to her promotion to chief risk officer, she served as vice president of Enterprise Risk Management.
For 16 years Shepard has worked in the banking industry in branch management positions, most recently as vice president of Commercial and Business Banking at Umpqua Bank.

Oregon State CU Names Echeverri Mortgage Loan Officer
Daniel Echeverri has been named a mortgage loan officer by Oregon State Credit Union. Echeverri comes to the credit union after four years with Wells Fargo Home Mortgage in Salem.
Echeverri has prior experience within the credit union industry as he started in 2011 with Alaska USA Federal Credit Union in his hometown of Anchorage.
The bilingual Willamette University graduate with a B.A. degree in economics also earned customer service and customer loyalty awards with both Alaska USA and Wells Fargo. He has served as a regular volunteer for the Salem World Beat Festival, the Gilbert Discovery Village and Habitat for Humanity.
