NW CUs Delivered $7.7 Billion to NW Economy: What’s Your Headline?

Northwest credit union marketing teams recently received the newest independent analysis on how their credit unions delivered $7.7 BILLION impact to the economy.
The 2016 Northwest Credit Unions’ Impacts report can be a key tool to define your credit union’s impact, and to share how credit unions are truly fulfilling the role they were created to play. Here are just a few key takeaways of how you did it:
- Collectively, Northwest credit unions—including yours—delivered $528 million in direct benefits to their members in 2016—a 50 percent increase from the previous study;
- 5.5 million Northwest members reinvested that money right back into your local communities, driving a ripple effect buying power of $574 million; and
- Your credit unions are directly responsible for 17,061 family-wage jobs, with every credit union job supporting two others.
“There are a wealth of additional points to celebrate with your members and the media, telling the story of how not-for-profit, cooperative credit unions serve as a financial foundation for your member-owners,” VP of PR and Communications Lynn Heider wrote.

Your Association is already underway with plans to assemble a similar report for Idaho credit unions to leverage in 2017.
