On International Credit Union Day, credit unions were asked to donate $0.25 (or other designated amount) per-cardholder to their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals on their cardholders’ behalf, at part of the Shop for Miracles initiative.
Members were encouraged to post on social media about why they love their credit union debit or credit cards; post a picture of something they are saving to buy using the #ShopForMiracles hashtag.
Though Oregon credit unions finished tied with Nevada for second place in funds raised, they were recognized with the chance to send $10,000 to the hospitals of their choice for their effort, according to a CO-OP announcement. The funds will be split between OHSU Doernbacher Children’s Hospital, and PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital.
“It’s heartwarming to see Oregon credit unions recognized for the deep commitment they have shown to Credit Unions for Kids through Shop for Miracles,” said NWCUA President and CEO Troy Stang. “We join the entire Northwest Credit Union Movement in applauding their devotion to the cooperative principle of People Helping People.”
The Oregon credit unions that participated in Shop for Miracles included Advantis CU, IBEW & United Workers FCU, OnPoint Community CU, Oregon Community CU, SELCO Community CU, Sunset Science Park FCU, and Unitus Community CU.
Stay tuned for later issues of Anthem for information on how your credit union can participate in the #VoteForMiracles campaign and contribute!
