Coming to Spokane: JA Finance Park Presented by BECU

About 800 students, from Spokane Public Schools, took part in this Junior Achievement Capstone program last school year, the first year it was offered there.

Later this month, students at Spokane-area schools will have the chance to get their hands on real-world financial scenarios from JA Finance Park®.

JA Finance Park® is a groundbreaking financial literacy and career readiness program designed for middle and high school students. It provides hands on learning to develop personal money management skills, and prepares them for the financial challenges of their adult lives.

JA Finance Park® will be actively engaging students Nov. 28 through Dec. 9 and again March 14 through March 24, 2017 at the Shriner’s Event Center, located at 7216 W. Westbow Blvd.

Presented by JA of Washington’s statewide partner in Financial Literacy, BECU, JA Finance Park® opens the eyes and minds of young people as they have to make real life decisions on 16 household budget expenses, including housing, groceries, daycare, and transportation. JA Finance Park® recently set-up in Klamath Falls reaching students from four area schools.

According to Junior Achievement, the JA Finance Park® program was only available to students who could travel to one of Washington’s permanent JA World facilities in Yakima or Auburn, until recently.

Thanks to a collaborative, cross-state partnership with JA of Oregon and Southwest Washington, the new mobile, technology-driven JA Finance Park® unit is available for use in in Washington and Northern Idaho.
