SEATAC, WA — Credit unions from the Northwest engaged in spirited and competitive bidding to support their six Northwest Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals during the Hollywood Glamour Auction. The event was held at the Northwest Credit Union Association’s annual MAXX Convention in SeaTac. The total of just over $300,000 was announced from the stage at MAXX Thursday.

In staging the auction, the credit unions were honoring a charity they began here in the Northwest in 1986. Their model was adopted nationally in 1996. Credit Unions for Kids has become one of the top three fundraising entities for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, having contributed more than $150 million since 1996.

Luxurious travel opportunities, jerseys signed by sports superstars, and dinner with Seahawks Hall of Famer Steve Largent were among items driving the bidding. But toy filled red wagons designated for each of the hospitals raised the roof. The red wagons are a Credit Unions for Kids tradition and have been used to comfort children on their way to and from procedures while hospitalized.

Hospitals benefitting include:

Seattle Children’s Hospital (Seattle, WA)

OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital (Portland, OR)

Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center (Medford, OR)

Peacehealth Sacred Heart Medical Center (Springfield, OR)

Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital (Spokane, WA)

Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital (Yakima, WA)
