Larry Ellifritz, President and CEO of Portland’s Consolidated Community Credit Union, and Danea Passmore, VP of Training for Clatskanie, OR-based Wauna Federal Credit Union, were among only 49 credit union executives recognized by Credit Union Magazine recently as Credit Union Rock Stars for 2016.

The Rock Star program spotlights “creative people who demonstrate outstanding innovation and creativity in their chosen fields, and by doing so make the credit union movement a better, more interesting place,” according to the announcement.

Ellifritz, who began at Consolidated CCU 21 years ago, shared with the magazine his focus on collaboration is a deep and regular part of his work.

“This is my soapbox: There’s no reason for all of us [credit unions] to reinvent the wheel,” Ellifritz told the magazine. “Many of our lending and marketing programs are an amalgamation of several successful credit unions’ programs.

Passmore also started her career with her current credit union, Wauna FCU. From an on-call teller position, she worked her way up to head the credit union’s training department today. For her, it’s Wauna employees who cultivate a strong culture for colleagues and members, alike.

“Wauna FCU is an amazing place to work and I love having the opportunity to train employees so they can be successful,” Passmore said. “I am honored to help our employees grow from where they are to where they want to be.”
