With Labor Day in the rearview, most eyes are turning to autumn and holiday planning. But Northwest credit unions and chapters continue to host events in support of their communities and Credit Unions for Kids.
Point West Credit Union in Portland is hosting its 3rd annual bowling event on Saturday, September 17 from 11:30 am – 2:30 pm, at AMF Pro 300 Lanes (3031 SE Powell Blvd., Portland). Point West President and CEO Amy Nelson noted that Credit Unions for Kids remains a popular and important fundraiser “here in the Northwest and across the country.”
“We’re excited to continue to provide an affordable, family-friendly event in which folks at every level of the credit union movement can participate and give back,” she said.
Last year’s event raised $6,000, double the amount from the year prior. This year, Point West has secured a CO-OP Miracle Match, which will match funds raised dollar for dollar, up to $10,000.
The cost per participant is $25 per individual, which includes shoes, two hours of bowling, and unlimited pizza and soft drinks. In addition to bowling, a raffle and silent auction will be held with a variety of fantastic items donated by staff, members, local businesses and credit union vendors.
For those interested, lane sponsorships are also available for $150. Sponsorships include bowling for four individuals, recognition during the event, and signage on one lane. Golf Tournament Planned for September 15
The Kitsap and Pierce County credit union chapters are joining forces to host a golf tournament, as well.
Planned for September 15 at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Washington, the tournament is in its fourth year, but first as a joint venture between the chapters. It was described as proof of the “spirit of credit union cooperation” by Scott Prior, President and CEO of Connection Credit Union.
“Our tournament has grown in numbers and funds raised for Credit Unions for Kids each year and the partnership with the Pierce Chapter was a great opportunity to continue to grow and expand the impact we can have as chapters, credit unions and as individuals,” Prior said.
“We welcome anyone who wants to join us in a fun day at a beautiful venue,” Prior added.
