NYIB Conference Coming Up

Has your credit union been looking for new ideas to revamp your youth accounts or your youth and family marketing program? Do you want to infuse your financial education program with new energy and new resources? The 2016 NYIB conference might just be the place for you!

The 2016 National Youth Involvement Board (NYIB) conference is being held July 26-29 in San Antonio, Texas. The NYIB is a national credit union network made up of CU professionals who are involved with financial education, youth marketing, in-school branches, and financial reality fairs. The annual conference focuses on each of these areas. Attendees will take away key ideas to help develop or freshen up their programs.

Mitzi Smith, Community Development Officer at Maps Credit Union in Salem, Oregon, recalls her first trip to the NYIB conference:

“I remember my first NYIB experience and I felt so inspired to create new programs that engaged with youth and connected them to affordable financial services. Focusing on youth outreach not only empowers future leaders to make wise financial choices, but builds the bench of new long term and loyal members. Participating in the NYIB conference connected me to others working to increase financial capability and expanded my network of credit union professionals.”

The annual conference also features the annual business meeting, and an awards ceremony which recognizes the top individuals and credit unions in financial education (based on reported presentations). The NYIB also hosts a listserv, and a platform for reporting financial education presentations made to youth.
