New Identity Theft Marketing Resources Available

We all know identity theft is constantly taking new and creative forms. It’s not like the the 2002 hit film Catch Me If You Can, where suave forgers pass off bad checks and globe hop posing as pilots and doctors. In the world of digital and social media, your members are exposed to untold points of digital egress where their personal data flows into the world.

Their chances of some form of identify theft only increases as summer travel heats up and they use their debit and credit cards during travel. With more than 13 million Americans victims of identity theft last year alone, it’s a widespread issue, but Your Association has brand new tools to help lower risk and put your members’ minds at ease

“These multi-channel resources were added because of input from credit union marketers who shared some great ideas with us,” said Lynn Heider, NWCUA VP of Public Relations and Communications. “All of these new resources can be used right away, and most can easily be customized and edited for reuse as needed.”

The tools include:

  • Animated video, with an option to add your logo;
  • Infographic: ID Theft & Limited Member Liability;
  • Social Media Shares: Protect Your Wallet;
  • Newsletter/Blog Article: Summer Travel Season;
  • Media Kit: Summer Travel Season.

Heider added that NWCUA hopes the tools empower members to lower the risk of identity theft and respond effectively if fraud does occur. If credit unions use the toolkit, or have questions, they are encouraged to call at 503.350.2225 or email lheider@nwcua.org.
