National Consumer Protection Week: Perfect Time to Join a Local, Cooperative, Not-for-Profit Credit Union

Tigard, OR and SeaTac, WA—March 6-12 is National Consumer Protection Week. The Federal Trade Commission is empowering consumers to be smarter about credit, debt, ID theft, fraud, technology and more. One value the NCPW website encourages consumers to consider is credit union membership.

“Because credit unions are not-for-profit financial institutions,” the website notes “their focus is on serving the financial needs of their members and not making a profit.” NCPW correctly states that credit unions offer higher rates on savings, fewer fees for services and lower loan rates.
