Amplify Opens with All-Star Lineup on Advocacy, Regulatory Relief, and Innovation

The tone for the opening session of the NWCUA’s Amplify Convention on Tuesday afternoon was set early. NWCUA President and CEO Troy Stang called to the stage Jim Nussle, his counterpart at CUNA, and briefed him on the accomplishments of Northwest credit unions, focusing on their legacy of successful advocacy.

Then, just before giving the stage over to Nussle for his opening keynote, Stang said, “And one more thing.”

“As you know you’re in Seahawks country,” Stang continued, “and we have a slogan here.” A Seahawks logo with the words “I’m in” filled the big screens flanking the stage. “Well these credit unions here in the Northwest, and all of us in the Northwest movement, we’re in.”

The crowd was “in” too, as Nussle was followed to the Amplify stage by Oregon Speaker of the House Tina Kotek, NCUA Vice Chair Rick Metsger, and Filene CEO Mark Meyer. Later in the evening attendees commented on how many incredible speakers appeared in just the first session of this year’s Amplify.
