Small Loan Makes Lifelong Memory for High School Couple

Sometimes, it’s the small loans in life that matter. For Jeremy Brooks, that meant a $500 loan to take his girlfriend to their homecoming dance. The year before, he’d attended casually dressed. This year would be different. It would be special, if he could just get a small loan.

Northwest Community CU came through.

“It was a dance the night away” evening, Brooks recalls

“I had no fear he would default,” said Aimee Rogers, a Member Service Specialist III at Northwest Community CU. “His story was just so neat. You could see his sincerity.”

Although it’s been three years, Rogers clearly remembers the day Brooks stopped in for the loan.

“I thought, oh my goodness, this is what every girl wants. I am going to do whatever I can to make the loan go through,” she said, noting the loan was easily paid back as she’d suspected it would be.

For Brooks, the credit union’s special touch made a big difference. He took his best girl, Savanna Glazier, shopping for a nice dress.  And he dressed to the nines.

“Just because of that service,” Brooks noted, “I ended up keeping my Northwest Community membership.”

Fast forward a few years and Brooks now has two credit union memberships. He is stationed in California in the Marine Corps.

And there’s more to this happy ending: Brooks is still dating his best girl.
