Point West Credit Union recently turned a Portland, Oregon bowling alley into a fundraising extravaganza, inviting staff, members and supporters to hit the lanes in support of Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. Bolstered by the participants’ generosity and the support of over 50 local businesses and other credit unions, the event raised over $6,000 for the hospital.

“The support of our local community cannot be overstated,” said Amy Nelson, President/CEO of Point West Credit Union.  “We are humbled by the generosity of our local credit union friends and businesses. It was an amazing, family-fun event that brought real, tangible results back to our local children’s hospital.”

In addition to the bowling action, the credit union held a raffle and silent auction with nearly 100 items donated by staff, members, local businesses and credit union partners.

The money was donated to Doernbecher through Credit Unions for Kids, a national program created by the credit union movement to support the lifesaving work of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Last year’s inaugural Point West bowling event raised $3,000. Point West raised a total of $7,500 in 2014 to benefit Credit Unions for Kids.

The credit unions of Oregon and Washington not only improve their members’ lives, they are foundational to the entire Northwest economy. Learn more here.
