There is no better feeling than hitting your driver’s sweet spot and watching your ball soar down the center of the fairway. Except, of course, knowing that your shot will support the lifesaving work of Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals.
On July 13, credit union leaders will tee off with celebrities at the annual Dave & Dan Classic, a celebrity golf tournament raising funds for Credit Unions for Kids. This year’s tournament will be held at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in North Plains, Oregon.
The tournament, presented by First Tech Federal Credit Union and OnPoint Community Credit Union, aims to raise $1,000,000 this year to support five CMN Hospitals in Oregon, Washington and California.
“Since founding this tournament nearly 20 years ago, First Tech has delighted in bringing together credit unions, corporate sponsors and others to help restore the health and happiness of America’s next generation of leaders,” said First Tech Federal Credit Union President and CEO Greg Mitchell. “During this period we have raised more than $3.6 million for Children’s Miracle Network and we are hopeful that the 2015 event will gross in excess of $1 million to support CMN hospitals from Seattle to San Diego. We are honored to be part of this movement and humbled by the generosity of our countless volunteers, corporate sponsors, credit unions and players who freely share their time, talents and treasures for kids.”
Founded by NFL Hall of Famer inductees Dave Wilcox and Dan Fouts, together with Tom Sargent, who retired as First Tech Federal Credit Union’s president in 2010, this year’s tournament will raise money for the following hospitals:
- Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland, Oregon;
- Sacred Heart Medical Center in Salem, Oregon;
- Seattle Children’s Hospital in Seattle, Washington;
- Children’s Hospital Oakland in Oakland, California; and
- UC Davis Children’s Hospital in Sacramento, California.
“We look forward to the Dave & Dan Classic every year, and are pleased to again be a heritage sponsor,” said OnPoint Community Credit Union President and CEO Rob Stuart. “To have these Hall of Fame athletes come out to this outstanding tournament is a testament to the work of Credit Unions for Kids and Children’s Miracle Network. OnPoint is proud to support this event and the important work of children’s hospitals to provide outstanding care to sick children and their families.”
Registration will begin at 10:30 a.m. on the day of the event for a 1:00 p.m. tee off.
The tournament calls for four person teams, which may include a fifth celebrity player. The Peoria Scoring System will determine each team’s handicap based on plan for the day. A Scramble format will be played on both courses.
Credit Unions for Kids is a non-profit collaboration of credit unions, chapters and associations across the country, engaged in fundraising activities to benefit 170 CMN Hospitals. As their adopted charity of choice, credit unions are the third largest sponsor of CMN Hospitals.
The event is made possible by the generosity of sponsors, including PSCU, MasterCard, CO-OP Financial Services, Fiserv, CU Direct Corporation and CUNA Mutual Group.
A few sponsorships are still available for those looking to network with credit union industry leaders at the event. Available sponsorships range from $1,500 to $15,000. Visit the Dave & Dan Classic website for complete details and to submit your application today.
