In the world of credit unions, competition is a relative term.
Nobody knows the challenges of being a small financial institution quite like Equality Washington, a group that has spent the past year just trying to get its LGBTQ-focused credit union up and running.
Equality, which plans to offer financial services oriented to the needs of gays and lesbians, has a tiny budget but the same regulatory hurdles and customer expectations as massive banks.
