St. Helens Community Credit Union Announced as ‘Business of the Year’

St. Helens Community Credit Union won prestigious recognition recently as the 2014 South Columbia County Chamber Business of the Year.

The award is a great honor for any local business, given based on contributions to the local economy and overall community. In addition to accomplishments and support, the award examines leadership and business growth. The $178.6 million, 15,564 member credit union was recognized for its scholarship opportunities, financial literacy programs, student teller programs and other youth outreach, as well as for volunteer and charity support. St. Helens Community Credit Union membership is open to families and businesses throughout Columbia, Clatsop and Cowlitz Counties as well as in the Sauvie Island community in Oregon.

“It’s a true honor to be recognized for our hard work,” Brooke Van Vleet, president and CEO of St. Helens Community said about the award. “This is a great accomplishment for everyone involved with St. Helens Community, from the tellers and loan officers, to our volunteers, and members. We’re all helping make a difference in Columbia County, helping families and local businesses thrive and prosper.”

The South Columbia Chamber of commerce works in partnership with local cities, counties, economic development groups and other interested entities and organizations to promote, advocate, connect and educate.
