Repo Remarketing Gives Credit Unions Deep Look Into Auto Auction

On Wednesday, February 11, about 20 people from nine Northwest credit unions joined Repo Remarketing — the full service repossession and remarketing firm — at the Manheim automobile auction in Seattle for “CU Day at the Auction.” The event gave credit union leaders a chance to see exactly what goes into remarketing a vehicle. Credit unions even got to see their own cars being sold.
“I loved the energy and intense nature of the auction,” said Jason Durfee, accounts control manager at WECU, who attended the event. “Getting to see our vehicles being sold, and the steps that Repo Remarketing does to ensure we are getting top dollar for our vehicles was very reassuring.”
The company also invited its preferred agent in the area to meet with credit unions. “Credit unions got to put a face to the name of the guy who actually repossesses many of their vehicles,” said Rickey Acosta, account manager for Repo Remarketing. “This way they got to hear what goes into recovering their cars while they watched the process of remarketing them.”
A presentation from Manheim for the credit unions included information on how many cars are sold every week, how many dealers buy cars every week, and how their partnership with Repo Remarketing adds value.
To underscore these points, credit union representatives took a tour of Manheim’s huge facility, seeing the process that cars go through to be prepared for sale. From the drop off point to the photo shop, where valuation takes place, to the test track, mechanic shop, and paint and body shop, credit unions got a deep dive into the process of getting repossessed cars ready for market.
“I understand more completely now how much work Repo Remarketing does to get a vehicle ready for auction, and how much they do to help us during the auction,” said WECU’s Durfee. “I was impressed with how much care and enthusiasm their staff had with regards to making sure that our repossessions were getting top dollar.”
