News & Notes: Here’s What’s Happening Around the Northwest

Peninsula Credit Union Named Business of the Year By Shelton-Mason Chamber

Peninsula Credit Union was honored at the Shelton-Mason County Chamber Annual Awards Gala on January 16, being named the 2014 recipient for Business of the Year. This was Peninsula’s second consecutive nomination and was the capstone achievement in a very exciting year for the credit union.

The award is given out based on the overall contribution to the local community as well as improving the business culture in Shelton and Mason County. Peninsula’s win serves as a symbol of the credit union mission as they celebrate 80 years of serving their members and local communities.

In the fall of 1935, Peninsula Credit Union was born as the Shelton Rayonier Federal Credit Union to serve the employees of the Rayonier Pulp and Paper Company’s plant in Shelton. Since that time, Peninsula has grown to serve over 18,000 members in five counties, all while maintaining their commitment to promoting financial wellness and community development.

When reflecting on these accomplishments Peninsula President & CEO Jim Morrell said, “The Business of the Year Award is a great way to kick-off Peninsula Credit Union’s 80th anniversary. We have an amazing team; people dedicated to protecting the hard earned savings of our members, committed to improving people’s financial lives, and devoted to the community that is part of who we are.”

Peninsula Credit Union would like to thank its staff, business partners and, most of all, their members for their continuous support.
