Oregon Community Leverages Duck Fever With Credit Card Contest

It’s not much of a challenge to find a rabid University of Oregon Duck fan in Eugene — or anywhere in Oregon, for that matter. So, who wants a luxury trip for two to the Oregon vs. UCLA game in Pasadena on October 11? What about homecoming at Autzen?

Oregon Community Credit Union, home of The Duck Card, in conjunction with the University of Oregon Alumni Association, just announced the launch of the “Fly South with the Ducks” photo contest. The contest challenges Duck Card Platinum Visa® holders and new applicants to prove their passion for the Oregon Ducks by submitting a photograph on Facebook that best defines the term “Duck Devoted.”

More than 250 prizes are available to win, with the top three winners each receiving a weekend trip for two to the Oregon vs. UCLA football game at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California on October 11. This top prize includes airfare, hotel, and game tickets, as well as entrance to the UOAA tailgate party, ground transportation, and meals. Fifteen second-tier winners will receive admission for themselves and a guest to the End Zone hospitality event at the October 18 homecoming game at Autzen as well as tickets to the game. A total of 250 third-tier winners will receive a 2014 Oregon Football Yearbook.

The “Fly South with the Ducks” contest is open to both Duck Card holders, and non-Duck-Card-holders who apply for the Duck Card at by 5:00 pm PDT on September 17. The contest runs from August 4 to September 17, 2014. Full contest description, prizes and rules can be found at

Deborah Mersino, chief marketing officer of Oregon Community Credit Union, said, “We’re gearing up for another great football season and cannot wait to see the variety of photo submissions showcasing Duck pride. What devoted Duck fan wouldn’t want to ‘fly south’ to take in the game at the historic Rose Bowl, attend exclusive Duck-related events, and spend the weekend in Southern California? We’re thrilled to partner with the UO Alumni Association to deliver exclusive opportunities like this, which are geared toward proud University of Oregon loyalists and Duck fans.”

Yakima’s Own “Miracle Cup” Gets a Power Boost From Solarity Credit Union

It looks so cool — a racing simulator that puts you behind the wheel of a racecar, with no risk of being injured in a high-speed accident. And when you “drive” in the Miracle Cup Simulation Racing Tournament, your entry fee helps sick children.

The Miracle Cup is a simulated car-racing tournament started by a local ambassador for Extra Life. Extra Life is a fundraising program that uses video games to benefit pediatric care and research in connection with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN), including Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital and Children’s Village.

Solarity Credit Union is proud to sponsor the Miracle Cup Tournament in Yakima, Washington now through the end of October. The Miracle Cup is a highlight of the annual Moxee Hop Festival.

Extra Life debuted as a small video game marathon for a Texas Children’s Hospital in 2008 and two years later partnered with CMN nationally. Extra Life gaming sessions now raise over $4 million annually for CMN.

Yakima’s Miracle Cup kicked off in early August. The tournament will tour across several popular summer events starting with the Moxee Hop Festival, Hot Shots 3-on-3 Basketball tournament and Downtown Summer Nights. The season finale will be hosted by Stewart Subaru in October, the final push before the Extra Life 24-hour gaming marathon takes place on October 25.
