Maren Gatchell Joins NWCUA as Senior Accounting Specialist

Maren Gatchell has joined the Northwest Credit Union Association as its senior accounting specialist.

As part of the NWCUA’s accounting department, Gatchell will perform a variety of accounting support functions, including the dispersion of payments, reconciliation of accounts and preparation of transaction reports. She also will be responsible for payroll.

“I am excited to have Maren join our NWCUA team” says Jennifer Huggard, the NWCUA’s vice president for administration. “She will add efficiencies and streamline processes for all of our accounting functions.”

Gatchell received her associate’s degree in accounting from Bellevue College in March 2014 and is currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree at the school. She has worked for both state- and federally-chartered credit unions since 2003.

She was ecstatic, she says, when she learned of the opportunity to work for the Association, not only because of the chance to fulfill her professional goals but also because of her belief in the credit union movement.

“Credit unions offer the best rates because they are nonprofit entities and care about giving back to their members. Credit unions take pride in serving their members, not maximizing profits. Credit union members also have a voice when it comes to electing their board of directors,” she says. “That is why I believe in credit unions and will continue to be a part of their membership base, and why I’m excited to be a part of this Association.”

Gatchell will be based in NWCUA’s Washington office. She can be reached by email at and by phone at 206.340.4835.
