Entry Deadline Nears for 2014 Spectrum Awards in Marketing, Advertising, Branding & PR

STCU took home Best of Show honors for its “Of Special Interest” newsletter at last year’s Spectrum Awards dinner and gala. Will your credit union be called to the podium this year when public relations, advertising and marketing professionals gather for the Northwest Credit Union Association’s Marketers’ Conference in SeaTac?

This year’s conference, scheduled for May 7-8, will feature interactive presentations by an Emmy Award-winning network news correspondent, a nationally renowned media and speech coach, a representative of a worldwide public relations/crisis management firm, a nationally honored videographer and a community engagement expert.

The conference also is home to the Spectrum Awards, which honor excellence in 11 different categories:

  • Annual & sustainability reports
  • Branding
  • Broadcast media
  • Business-partner marketing
  • Collective-action marketing
  • Community impact & outreach
  • Cross-media marketing
  • Newsletters
  • Online/new media
  • Print
  • Public relations

The deadline for submitting Spectrum entries is midnight on Monday, March 17. You’ll find descriptions of each category here, and an online entry form here.

To be considered, entries must be for work created and implemented between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2013. Entries will be judged on strategy, creativity, execution and results by a nationwide panel of media, public relations and advertising professionals.

Denise Gabel, the NWCUA’s chief operating officer, will emcee the awards ceremony for a second consecutive year. Spectrum Awards are a chance, she says, for credit union marketers to shine.

“Last year we had such a spirited celebration, so I am excited and honored to be back as emcee this year. It’s so inspiring to see how credit union marketers and their partners are messaging products, member benefits and community impact,” Gabel says. “You really get a feel for the different identity of each locally operated credit union when you see their marketing, community collaboration projects, public relations work and media outreach. They really are innovative and imaginative, and their work is memorable.”
