It doesn’t matter if you choose a football, a light bulb or a jolly snowman — they’ll all help Credit Unions for Kids raise funds during the holiday season for Children’s Miracle Network hospitals.
The Holiday Icon Campaign lets credit unions order paper icons in fun, holiday-themed shapes at no charge. Members donate a dollar in exchange for writing their name on the icons, which can then be displayed on branch walls or windows through Dec. 31.
Every dollar raised stays in the Northwest, where Credit Unions for Kids was founded in 1986. And every dollar makes a big difference in the life of a sick child. For example:
- Wee Pee-size diapers, for babies weighing less than 800 grams, cost 41 cents;
- Preemie-size diapers, for babies weighing up to 4 pounds, cost 50 cents;
- Size 1 blood-pressure cuffs for the smallest child patients cost $1.08; and
- Baby blankets in the Neonatal and Infant Critical Care Unit cost $4.
In addition to the free paper icons, the Credit Unions for Kids website includes suggested tweets and a sample newsletter article to engage members. Information sheets and goal charts are available to excite staff, and there’s even a Children’s Miracle Network video to make sure everyone’s inspired.
Now credit unions’ national charity of choice, Credit Unions for Kids has raised more than $110 million for the 170 hospitals in the Children’s Miracle Network, including $12 million in the Northwest alone for the region’s six network hospitals.
Those Northwest hospitals include CMN Hospitals of the Inland Northwest, Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, Rogue Valley Medical Center, Seattle Children’s Hospital, Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital and Sacred Heart Medical Center.
