Seattle’s Verity Credit Union will ring in the New Year with a new President/CEO. John Zmolek, Verity’s current executive vice president, will take over the lead role after being unanimously selected by Verity’s board of directors.
“I’m excited to continue Verity’s mission of enhancing members’ lives through exceptional financial services ,” Zmolek says. “We have come through the recession in a good position to grow and enhance our products and services.”
Zmolek started with Verity in 1986 as a board member and became chief financial officer when William Hayes became CEO in 1990. In addition to his role as COO, Zmolek has served as the executive in charge of information technology, chief lending officer and president of CU Home Mortgage Solutions, which provides mortgage services to Verity and other Washington credit unions.
Zmolek received his BS in Economics from Iowa State University and his MS from University of California-Davis. He has served on the regional board of the Credit Union Executives Council and currently serves on the boards of various non-profit organizations.
Hayes, Verity’s current president/CEO, is retiring after 34 years with the credit union. Hayes’ last day will be Dec. 31; Zmolek will become president/CEO on Jan. 1.
“Members should feel confident that John will work in alignment with our Board of Directors to lead Verity to a safe and successful future” Hayes says.
