Can’t Wait for the Boardwalk of Miracles Auction? Bid Now on the Coolest Air Jordans from the Doernbecher Freestyle Collection!

Talk about putting your best foot forward!

You’ll have to wait until Oct. 9 for your shot at most of the items up for bid at the Boardwalk of Miracles auction at the Northwest Credit Union Association’s Amplify Convention in Portland. But you can take a step in the right direction now by bidding online for the sweetest pair of Air Jordans this side of Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.

The Nike Air Jordan 9 Retro DB, donated by the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital Foundation, was designed by 11-year-old Oswaldo Jimenez for the Doernbecher Freestyle collection. The shoes are size 11, they’re way cool, and they’re up for bid now at the Credit Unions for Kids website.

Bidding starts at $500.

“Freestyle shoes have sold out everywhere,” says Shelly Berryman, NWCUA’s vice president for member engagement and advocacy. “About the only place you can find them is on eBay—and there the starting price is $669.99!”

The Freestyle collection started from a simple idea: pair patients battling life-threatening illnesses with talented Nike designers and developers to create unique sneakers to be sold throughout North America. Proceeds would benefit Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland.

Nine years later, more than $5 million has been donated to the hospital for developing new clinical services, funding innovative research programs, and testing new treatments for serious childhood diseases.

Each shoe in the collection is as unique as the child who designed it. Oswaldo was diagnosed with Severe Pulmonary Hypertension after a series of fainting spells last December. He still has to be careful about how much energy he exerts, but with Doernbecher’s help, he’s able to enjoy life just like any 11-year-old should.

Your bids at the Boardwalk of Miracles auction will help more kids live normal lives, too.

All proceeds from the auction, which will be held at Amplify from 5:30-10 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9, will benefit Credit Unions for Kids and its charity of choice, the Children’s Miracle Network of 170 hospitals nationwide. Six of those hospitals are in the Northwest, including Doernbecher.

You can bid at the auction on Radio Flyer wagons filled with toys and games—a popular Credit Unions for Kids tradition. With your donation, the wagons will be delivered to the six Children’s Miracle Network hospitals in Oregon and Washington. Also up for grabs:
