Wheels Up and Fans Tuned in for Ride and Rock Fundraiser

Got Wheels? Start your engine for the annual Credit Unions for Kids fundraiser spearheaded by Fibre Federal and iQ credit unions. The charity motorcycle ride, now called the Ride and Rock, will continue a fundraising tradition benefitting Doernbecher Children’s Hospital on Aug. 11. This year’s event has a new feature: a jazz concert and picnic dinner. More on that in a minute.

First, we have new information on the route the motorcycle ride will take. Riders will rev up at 11:00 a.m. at iQ Credit Union’s main branch, 1313 Main St. in Vancouver. They’ll convoy to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, where they’ll deliver Ride and Rock stuffed bears for patients. The poker run fun then takes cruisers to a St. Helens Community FCU branch in Scappoose, onto St. Helens main branch in St. Helens, across the Columbia River to Fibre FCU’s Operations Center in Longview and ending at the Ridgefield, Washington iQ branch.

The next stop will be the Bethany Vineyards, also in Ridgefield, where jazz great Patrick Lamb will belt out some mellow saxophone sounds in a jazz concert. The concert also includes a gourmet picnic dinner. (Click on the link now to enjoy some tunes, while you finish reading this article.)

The Ride and Rock presents many opportunities for Credit Unions for Kids supporters. Registration for the motorcycle ride is available online. Contributors may purchase Ride and Rock stuffed bears for Doernbecher patients. Corporate sponsorships are still available and give participating businesses high visibility at locations along the route as well as in the concert venue.

Finally, concert/picnic tickets are available for just $25.00.

Fibre and iQ credit unions, along with many of the Ride and Rock sponsors, were early supporters of Credit Unions for Kids, which was founded in 1986 by a group of Oregon and Southwest Washington credit unions. Their fundraising model was adopted nationally a decade later and now helps to support 170 Children’s Miracle Network (CMS) hospitals.

Following the Ride and Rock, the next major fundraiser for Credit Unions for Kids will be Unitus Community Credit Union’s Wine on the Willamette. The annual Willamette river cruise, art auction, and wine tasting event is scheduled for Aug. 23.

The Boardwalk of Miracles Dinner and Auction taking place during the Northwest Credit Union Association’s (NWCUA) Amplify Convention in October will present yet another opportunity for the credit union community to come together to benefit the movement’s “charity of choice.”
