Senate Committee to Meet Tuesday to Discuss NCUA Board Nomination

The Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs will meet in Executive Session Tuesday, July 16, to consider the nomination of former Oregon Senator Rick Metsger for a position on the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Board.

Sen. Metsger was nominated by President Obama in May to serve on the three-member board. He appeared before the Senate Committee in June to begin the confirmation process.

In addition to the decade he served in the Oregon State Senate, Metsger was a member of the board of the former Portland Teacher’s Credit Union, which is now OnPoint Community Credit Union, and was a popular television news anchor and reporter.

A spokeswoman for the Senate Committee said the members are expected to vote during Tuesday’s Executive Session whether to recommend Metsger for nomination. If the Committee recommends confirmation, the full Senate will schedule a vote at a later date.
