Advantis CU is Founding Partner of New Professional Baseball Franchise

It’s been nearly three years since Portland area baseball fans have had a local professional team to cheer on. The Triple-A Portland Beavers were tossed out of their downtown dugout in 2010 to make room for professional soccer.

The city of Hillsboro went to bat for fans, and scored a deal to catch an available franchise from Yakima, Washington. The Hillsboro Hops needed six “Founding Corporate Partners” to cross home plate, and Advantis Credit Union stepped up.

“There is so much excitement about the return of baseball to our community, and we are proud to be part it as a founding partner,” said Wendy Edwards, vice president of marketing and human resources for Advantis.

The other founding partners are Nike, BridgePort Brewing, The Oregonian/Oregonlive.com, Les Schwab and Tuality Healthcare.

The Hops start their inaugural season June 14 with a three-game series against the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes in Salem. The first home game is June 17 when the Hops host the Eugene Emeralds.
